Why try Cacao?

  • If you're feeling stuck in routine, looking for a simple way to reconnect with yourself.

  • If you want to replace coffee, but still crave morning energy & clarity - whilst cacao does contain a tiny bit of caffeine, it’s by no means the jolt to your adrenals that coffee is.

  • If you want to get off sugar - but you can’t bear to part with chocolate (in no time you’ll be wondering why you ever loved choc over cacao!)

  • If you’re seeking more presence, wanting to slow down and savour the moment.

  • If you’re drawn to ancient traditions, curious about cacao as a sacred practice.

  • If you’re looking for a powerful plant-based superfood, packed with nutrients that fuel your mind and body.

Health Contraindications

Ceremonial cacao is a powerful plant medicine, and while it’s a beautiful practice for many, it’s not for everyone. We know many people who drink cacao with benefits to their mental and physical health, plus Cacao is in chocolate, so if you know you’re good with a high percentage quality chocolate, chances are, you’re all good to go. BUT/AND, we have to list these:

🚨 Science-Backed Contraindications

🔸 If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure – Cacao contains theobromine, a mild stimulant that can increase heart rate and blood flow. If you have a serious cardiovascular condition, consult your doctor before consuming. (It’s worth noting that there is actually tonnes of research into Cacao as a very successful heart disease preventative … again, please do your homework)

🔸 If you take MAOIs, SSRIs or certain antidepressants – Cacao is rich in tyramine, which can interact with MAOIs/SSRIs. Check with your healthcare provider if you’re on medication.

🔸 If you are pregnant or breastfeeding – While small amounts of cacao are generally safe, the theobromine and caffeine content may not be ideal for sensitive pregnancies or newborns. Always consult your practitioner.

🔸 If you’re highly sensitive to stimulants – Even though cacao provides gentle, sustained energy (not a caffeine spike), some people are more sensitive to theobromine’s effects and may experience jitteriness or restlessness.

🔸 If you have kidney or liver issues – Cacao contains oxalates, which may contribute to kidney stone formation in those prone to them. If you have a history of kidney issues, consider moderating your intake.

🔸 If you have a history of migraines triggered by chocolate – Some individuals are sensitive to phenylethylamine (PEA) in cacao, which can occasionally be a migraine trigger.

Looking for a Silver Bullet? Keep Searching.

If you’re hoping for a magical hack that changes everything overnight, we’ll be honest—cacao isn’t it.

But what is. Let’s be real: Have you ever actually found a silver bullet that left you feeling truly good—long term?

Cacao isn’t a shortcut. It’s an invitation—to slow down, to connect, to nourish your body with something real. It won’t do all the work for you, but it will meet you where you are. And if you show up for it, cacao can become a tool for more clarity, more presence, and more sustainable energy—without the crashes.

If that sounds like something you’re open to exploring, we’d love for you to try it. If not? That’s okay too. The right things meet us at the right time.
