How to make your
ceremonial cacao
(and make it the most delicious drink of your day)
We often have people admit to us that they have a bag of cacao they bought after a ceremony sitting in the back of their kitchen cupboard because they are a bit intimidated by making it and don’t know whether they need to do anything special, or have special training, or words. WE SEE YOU! Cacao can be daunting, and that’s why we are here! Whilst some cacao narratives would say you have to have training, or lineage to ‘work with’ cacao, we say, NO! You don’t need training to eat chocolate, so why are we getting all exclusive about the original, unadulterated pure form of cacao? Sure, go and train in things that interest you and learn about the incredible ancestry of this plant (but be careful, there is a lot of mis-information out there), but you can also relax; we believe that cacao is a medicine for the modern world because it is whole and perfect as it is. This is the message we most need to embody. Our principle with cacao is to remember in a mindful way the labour, the love, and the lineage of cacao. This doesn’t need to be a song and dance, just a thought while you prepare. It’s lovely to sit and journal, meditate, contemplate or move your body, but equally as ok to take cacao with you in the car on the school run.
When the decadent aromas and texture hit your body, you can’t help but feel the hug in a mug, which naturally invites deep gratitude for the deliciousness pouring into you. It’s yummy, it’s good for you, and here’s how to make it the smoothest, creamiest, dreamiest delight ever …

FOR DAILY GROUNDING
We believe in the wisdom of the body. We believe in the intelligence of the bean and plant of cacao.
AN IMPULSE FOR WHOLENESS
As very sensitive, somatic practioners, we wanted to find Cacao that was gentle and loving to the body, that could be used everyday for medicinal/superfood/
supportive practices that aid in bringing us into presence and peace.
Cacao as a plant represents wholeness - we feel strongly in our bones that this is what matters in the West. To us, cacao is less about the country of origin, and more about the people who produce it, and then how it lands in our nervous systems.
Our Cacaonista, Oonagh, from Cacao Ambassador works on the ground in countries like The Soloman Islands, who grow beautiful cacao, with all its health benefits in a kind and connected way. With Oonagh, we can really know this bean-to-body experience is brought to the world in the most justice-centred way.
A SENSUOUS EXPLORATION
We are not saying our cacao is better than any other because Cacao is a bean of complexity, and straight comparisons are not useful here. Instead, we suggest you finding the bean for your body as a process of coming into relationship - really using your senses to lead you, to sense if this cacao feels like the one you want to explore and flow with.
You can start this practice by sensing now and feel into whether this website, the way we talk about cacao, and the fact we sought out a cacao not to take us up and OUT, but down and IN. Does this feel in common to you and your practice/experience?
